How does cbd actually work?

Unless you’ve spent the last few years on a secluded mountain yoga retreat, you’ll have heard the hype about CBD. Thousands of people across the UK are now regularly using it as part of their daily wellness routine.

Unless you’ve spent the last few years on a secluded mountain yoga retreat, you’ll have heard the hype surrounding CBD.

At Aire, we promote the use of CBD oil as a food supplement to support the wellbeing of your body and mind. We urge you to do your own research before giving it a try.

What we can discuss here is how CBD works. It’s quite complicated so try and stick with us…

The Endocannabinoid System

Most of the good stuff CBD does is thanks to a group of neurotransmitters and receptors found in our bodies called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

The ECS plays a key role in shaping how we feel and how we experience life every day. It does this by balancing our endocannabinoid levels, which in turn helps regulates some of our physiological processes, including those that control how we deal with different areas of our daily life.

CBD and ECS – perfect partners

In a nutshell, CBD gives our ECS a helping hand to stay balanced. It does this by interacting with ECS receptors known as CB1 and CB2

The CB1 receptors are found mainly in the brain and spinal cord. The CB2 receptors are found pretty much everywhere.

CBD has been proven to interact naturally with these receptors, giving our ECS a helping hand to achieve balance by increasing our endocannabinoid levels when needed and also by stopping them become over-active.

More benefits being discovered daily

The fact that we have an Endocannabinoid System is still relatively new news. As is the role that CBD can have on our endocannabinoid levels. It was only in the late 1990s that these receptors were first found in humans, and the impact they have on our wellbeing started to be understood.

We look forward to seeing how things develop and we'll share any news with you as and when it does. To be kept up to date on all CBD and wellness related please sign up to our newsletter.
